Welcome to my blog where I try to post a photo taken somewhere in or around Bellefonte, PA each day or close to it. I also post various meme's here such as (ABC Wed., Skywatch Fri., Photo Meme's, Camera Critters, Weekend Mailbox) that I participate in each week, which are also focused in or around my town.

it looks really funny!
When I went to country school during the second war, or I was in the lower grades then, we did this at recess. Then later on, as the war developed in Japan too, we were no longer around to dance around the May Pole. It was outlawed and I still do not remember what the reason was.
I like your photos and the color and details are very nice.
I didn't do much today but...
I did write about how people used to wear long underwear over winter or until we began to stink. You can find the link at the bottom of the post today.

Oh, I love these pictures. I can remember a LONG time ago when I was preschool, my sister and her classmates, who were 8 years older than me, participating in May Day celebration that included a May Pole. Ut was always my dream to be one of the May Pole Girls!
I remember doing maypole dancing in the second and third grade. We always did it on may 1st. Of course the boys always hated it , and we girls thought we were so wonderful weaving in and out.
Nice photos. I've never seen this done. They seem to be having great fun doing it.
I always love to join a dance that many could take part as well...Like this one...Looks so fun!
Good ones, Barb. I especially like the first one.
Such a pretty custom. Dancing and weaving - happy activities.
What fun! I too like the one with the feet flying.
Great...I'm a sucker for seeing the children dance round the maypole!!!!
More umbrellas for you today (well 2 or 3...but colourful).
its like something out of fairy tale..lovely!
