Fancy Ladies

Here's another photo from Monday on Memorial Day. Ladies were dressed up in their era clothes for the encampment. These ladies had to be hot in those dresses but I bet the guys were even hotter dressed in those heavy uniforms. I posted photos of them doing the reenactment here: lv2scpbk.blogspot.com You may have to scroll down just a bit to see them.

Memorial Day Honored

"Freedom is Not Free"
These are my family members who has served in the military.

Here's my dad who served in the 131st National Guard Transportation Co. He drove supplies to the front lines and was in charge of a squad and ended as Corporal. He served in the Korean War from 1949-1952 Earned 3 Bronze stars.

My son was in the Marines. He has his thumb up on this photo because he just bought his new puppy at the time. He got out of the service a little over a year ago. When he got out he was Lance Corporal.

I don't have a photo of my husband when he was in the service unless I'd scan it in and I don't have a scanner. He was in the Army and served with the military police. He served in the military from 1985- 1988. Served one year in Korea.

To all the military branches and the families who has had military members in the service or does now. Our family salutes you.

A Poem from another site...
by Autumn Parker

I am a small and precious child,my dads been sent to fight..
The only place I'll see his face,is in my dreams at night.
He will be gone too many days for my young mind to keep track.
I may be sad,but I am proud. My daddys got your back..

I am a caring mother. My son has gone to war..
My mind is filled with worries that I have never known before.
Everyday I try to keep my thoughts from turning black.
I may be scared, but I am proud..My son has got your back..

I am a strong and loving wife, with a husband soon to go.
There are times I'm terrified in a way most never know.
I bite my lip,and force a smile as I watch my husband pack..
My heart may break, but I am proud..My husbands got your back..

I am a soldier..Serving Proudly,standing tall.
I fight for freedom, yours and mine by answering this call.
I do my job while knowing, the thanks it sometimes lacks.
Say a prayer that I'll come home. It's me whose got your back.

Tank

My grandson is enjoying checking out this tank at this past Sunday's Memorial Day ceremony. Tomorrow will be another photo from the Boalsburg service and then Monday will be in honor of all the military veterans out there and my posting of my dad who served in the Korean War. I will give you some details about his service then.

Son and grandson Army truck

Here's my son and grandson in front of an Army truck. I hope everyone doesn't mind me posting Sunday's Memorial Service each day. I figured since I started out the week with the Memorial Service I should continue till Monday on Memorial Day. I will end with my dad's photo on Memorial Day. He served in the Korean War. I may also try to post a photo of my younger son who was in the Marines.

Military helicopter

Here's a shot of my oldest son sitting in this Army helicopter. He loves taking his son (my grandson) to these ceremonies. I have some photos of my grandson in a tank. My younger son was in the Marines and got out about a year ago. He's not as fascinated with it since he was in the military.

Military Ceremony

This is continued from Sunday at Boalsburg with the military honoring the soldiers. Here is when it was done and they're walking over this bridge.

Military Honor

This past Sunday I went to Boalsburg where they had a military honor for the fallen soldiers. Boalsburg is about a 15 minute drive from Bellefonte. The army held this ceremony at the military museum. The army had their tanks, helicopters and played Taps along with honoring each branch of the service. If you want to read about Taps go here: http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/taps.htm
I'm sure their is alot of other sites you can read about Taps but this one seemed like a good reliable site.
In this photo they are firing off three canons to honor the fallen.

Newborn Baby Robin

I held my camera above this bird nest to get a photo. It's not very good since I didn't want to touch the nest in anyway, so this was as good as I could get it. There are three eggs in the nest. I can't tell whether or not another bird is born yet but I notice their is one bird not born yet. See the blue egg beside this hungry fellow. This is a baby robin and was born yesterday.

Lilac arrangement

Yesterday I thought it was lilacs that I posted, but have to agree that it was probably wisteria. Thanks for letting me know that. They look so close. So, today I am posting my lilacs from my house.

Wisteria (I thought was lilacs)

The wisteria (I thought was lilacs) is going up the chimney is at my brother's house with the welcome sign on it.

I thought these were lilacs, and everyone helped me identify this plant as "wisteria". Thanks for your help, and I am adding this note to set myself straight. I don't want to give a false description. They look alot like lilacs though to me. Sorry, for not having my info correct.

Two Bird Houses

I took these two bird houses at my parents house. These ones are occupied. Not like my other bird house I took a photo of last week. My mom said a blue jay occupies the first one on the left. The one in the background has birds coming and going too. My mom seen various birds using it but said their are robins using it now. They have several other bird houses too but these two look the best. Both my parents love to sit on their porch and watch the birds.

Bear

This is my brother-in-law and my sisters dog you seen in the photo yesterday. He's an indoor dog but when they sit outside they have to tie him up. As you can see by the leash it isn't strong enough to keep him tied if he really wanted to get lose. Anyway, I posted this photo because somehow it ended up looking more like a painting instead of a photo. Take a look at how the tree behind him looks. Wanted to see if everyone else thought so. I took the photo to Wal-Mart and cropped it just so the bandana and his head is showing. Can't seem to crop in photobucket. It looks wonderful cropped and I sent it in a 5x7 to my brother-n-law. I personally didn't like the leash in the photo. Would this bug anyone else?

Dog and Horse touch noses

Here's a photo of my brother-in-law and sister with their horse and dog. I liked this photo because of the dog and horse looking like their introducing theirselves. I have another photo I posted here http://www.lv2scpbk.blogspot.com of them all looking at the camera. I have their permission to post these. Let me know which one you like the best.

Flames

My brother-in-law walked behind the fire with my sisters horse and I took a photo of it. You can almost seen the intensity of the flames. They're not as close as it looks. I posted a photo of my sister on my personal blog here: www.lv2scpbk.blogspot.com My mom doesn't like her photo taken and wouldn't let me take her picture. So, I posted my sister instead.

Happy Mother's Day! I guess I should have posted flowers instead. Maybe tomorrow.

P.S. I just found a photo from a few years ago of my mom and posted on my personal blog with my sisters photo.

Allegheny St. Church

This church sits on Allegheny St. I personally like how the stemple by the doorway is at an angle. Not sure how well you see it in the picture.

Red flowers and Swans

These people have a whole bunch of swans with red flowers in front of their house. They're some that you can't see on each side too.

Playground

I was at a playground and trying to get different angles. This is the top of one of those bars that kids do a hand to hand from end to end. It kinda of directs your eye to a view.

My dog

I took this photo of my dog while standing up looking down on him. I didn't realize the "Over the Hedge" coloring book would showup until after I looked at the photo. After really looking at it though they both have big eyes in the picture. Thought it was funny.

Tulips

I just planted these tulips the other day and I have the skunks out front.

I accepted the “Interview Challenge” from Chad. If you want to see his set of questions and answers go to: http://chadoneil.blogspot.com/ If you'd like to keep the Interview Challenge going and want to be interviewed, just write "Interview Me" in your reply. Then I will give you a new set of questions to answer. You will then post on your blog your answers to my questions. The fun continues when you offer to interview one or more of your readers in your post. If they wish, then they will keep it going.

1. If you could spend a day with any living celebrity, who would it be and why?
I would say, Anderson Cooper. He may not be a celebrity per say, but I think he'd have really interesting true life stories to tell.

2. If you could spend a day with any living music celebrity, who would it be and why?
Dolly Pardon. I just think she'd be alot of fun. I mostly like top 40's, rock, some hip hop and faster country. But, she seems like she knows how to have fun.

3. What place have you visited that has effected you the most and why? Arizona. I love AZ. Wanted to go ever since I was a kid and finally got to go with my husband on our honeymoon years ago. When I left I felt like I had just lost my best friend.

4. Who’s the closest friend you ever had in your life thus far? Michelle. I lost my best friend about a year after graduation. Her husband killed her and then himself. We knew how to keep each others secrets and we're there for each other. I miss her.

5. How did you get into Blogging? I got into blogging from a group of ladies from a scrapbook message board. If you want to check it out, go to www.scrapbookaddict.com If you need an answer to anything, even non-scrapbook stuff they will have one.

6. Are you an athlete? If so, what sport do you play or have played? Not an athlete. I like to watch hockey though.

7. Favorite movie and why? "As Good As It Gets" I can watch this movie over and over and have. It's just funny and seems like a good family movie. My newest favorite love story would be: "The Lake House".

8. Favorite song and why? Mariah Carey's song.. "Dream Lover". It was a song I lipsinked to and did a dance for my husband with my bridesmaids pretending they were my backup singers and dancers at our wedding reception. I wanted to surprise my husband with something, and yes, he was surprised.

9. Most romantic date you’ve ever been on? Maybe not the most romantic, but I would say with my husband when we first meant. It was fun just getting to know each other.

10. What is your favorite car that you have owned? I used to own a red mustang when I was in my teens. I loved it.

Thanks Chad. Interesting questions. Now if anyone else wants to be interviewed, just let me know in one of your replys and I will think up some new questions.
