Joe Paterno Statue

This statue is by the Bryce Jordon Center almost right across from the Visitors Center. Joe Paterno is also known as "JoePa", one of his nicknames. He's been coaching along time, since 1966, and tomorrow I will show you the wall that is beside this statue made up of each year with the scores on them. Here's a site that list all his accomplishments and a picture of him. Go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Paterno

Also, JoePa's finger points to one of the Letterboxing clues that I told you about on my post from Aug. 12th.

I like the so realistic American public sculptures. By the way I have turned an American sculptor's website into French (Ed Hamilton). I see that the weather is very sunny in Bellefonte. Have a nice weekend, Barb.

Nice shot!
I keep seeing Joe on his walks, he's a very kind man and greets me and my kids. When my husband is for a jog, Joe says "keep it up!". Like a true coach.

I've always loved Joe Paterno! Once when I was a little girl, I was at Penn State for a dance recital and I saw Joe Paterno in person for the first time. I remember I was so thrilled. I like this statue!

This is a beautiful bronze, full of action and detail. I like how the players are running behind him on the frieze.

I love sculptures, this one looks like it is coming right at you. Where I live it seems the local council have got a thing going for statues and such like, I think this is a great idea and helps to keep the good things about a place, or town, city in peoples minds

Mr. Paterno is a living legend. I always like him because he is from the old school of coaches who were just as interested in turning out good young men as they were in winning games.

I stopped by from Photowannabe (I think, or Old Man lincoln) My son journeyed from Florida to go to Penn State. The faithful here in Florida are ready for football. A couple of days ago, I posted a photo of my little granddaughter in her Penn State t-shirt. She looks like she could be cheering!

What you don't see is that this is right alongside a road on campus. He looks like he's frozen, forever hailing a taxi.
