Great close-up. They are said to be eatable - I haven't tried...
I don't know much of anything about mushrooms except some will kill you if you eat them. So I don't eat them.

I'm originally from Lancaster County, PA, so know your area fairly well. These are some frilly mushrooms! You must have had some good moisture this summer.
Amazing photos of the mushrooms, nature sure can make some interesting things. Thanks for sharing with us all.

I see the same mushroom through my dining room window growing on my neighbor's maple tree. The mushroom is Polyporus squamosus or Dryad's saddle. Listed as edible in many mushroom field guides including the Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms. The caution is that only the young fruiting bodies and/or tender cap margins are suitable for eating. On the other hand, even though this is a pretty easily identifiable and distinct mushroom, it is never advisable to eat any wild mushroom based on a photo or an internet recommendation.
