Catch of the Day - Camera Critters
Catch of the day. I believe this bird to be a crane. If I'm wrong, can someone tell me what it is? I was taking a photo of this bird, and as I snapped the photo, he caught this fish. What a great catch, for him and me.

Great catch indeed! We call them Herons around here, but I'm certainly no expert! Thanks for visiting my Bird's Eye View blog. I was adding more photos to it at about that time, so you may want to come back!
Oh this is fabulous. I have never been around with a camera when anything stabs or catches a fish.
I am kind of playing Sunday today and trying to catch up on things. Maybe I can come back on Monday and say more.
Love your photography.
Wow! You were at the right place at the right time!
This probably is a Great White Heron or possible a Great Egret. The most obvious difference between the two birds is their leg color which isn't showing in this photograph. The GW Heron has yellow/brown legs whereas the Egret's legs are black.
A great catch indeed! Nice!
Wow !! - you can bring him down under when next you come.
We can't catch fish like this.
Talk about being in the right place at the right time.
Great shot; especially when you enlarge it.
Thanks, too for popping in to Adelaide.
Great catch indeed! Were you there on the right time or did take some time to catch it? Heron or Crane... an expert!!
Gmg, I was there at the right time. We were leaving Allegator Land at Myrtle Beach, and as we were leaving, my husband seen this bird. I got him to stop so I could snap a photo and as I was snapping the second shot, he swoped down and caught this fish. I was at the right place at the right time. I thought it was awsome.
Great shot. Lucky you!
Excellent capture!
What a cool shot ~~ you were at the right place at the right time...and with your camera.
I had those moments, w.o my camera, and now I take it everywhere.
Thanks for stopping by my corn, corn, corn post....I love that movie too.
I've seen your comments on Abe's post, and glad to meet you.
I'll be back and now I'm going to check out your other blog.
Wanda from Brushstrokes
Well caught and that goes for both of you!
Great shot, Barb. I also photographed a bird like this one this morning. It was standing on a stone in a pond but didn't have any fish in his beak :-))
Yes a very good catch of the day.
What a great shot! Congrats!!!
Oh well done! Wonderful catch, particularly for you. Perfect timing!
Isn't it great to have the camera when a great moment happens. Good catch...
Nice shot!
I played too :)
LV: Very nicely done and what great timing on the shot, I have seen the Great Blue Heron catch fish while I'm fishing. I would heve said Great Egret but Salty gave you the best description possible. It is definetly related to my Snowy Egret on my post.
Barb,
Wow, you got a first rate capture! It's a shot to be proud of! I'll have to go along with Salt and Fishing Guy on the identification.
Don't know about the bird (crane?) but that was a great catch for both of you!
Fantastic! I never would have thought anyone would be this lucky, but your photo proved me wrong, big time!
A great capture or a great capture.... I'd love to have taken this.
That's so awesome you caught a photo of the crane as it caught it's lunch. Very cool picture!!
That's a fabulous one chance shot.
Yes, indeed, wonderful capture. And what I particularly like is that you haven't cropped off all the space on the right. Would have been so tempting to do to enlarge it for us. And, hey, what a neck!
I like this image ...
You aren't kidding!!! This is an AWESOME capture! Wow - I bet you were thrilled to get this shot!
where was this photo taken i never saaw anything like this when I lived in Quakertown or Pittsburgh ??Really Pa. wowo
Wow! He's more hungry than me. :)
What a great shot. Perfect timing.
That was a great "catch"!
Love it!
This is an incredible shot!
You were in the right place and right instant ... and with camera!
I believe this is a white heron (the smaller ones are also called egrets).
In any case, this is an excellent photo. You really caught his catch very well. :)
Jealous... jealous.... I'll kill you for that moment! Fantastic, Barb!
