They dont look like they have much to eat, but I am sure their owner pays them a visit or two during the day and brings hay. I like their color.
I thought much the same as Jim above... I see horses in meadows full of green grass at this time of year....your picture could have been another great shot for Sky Watch ;o)

Some people go away and leave animals starve to death. This could be that or it could be nothing more than what you see. The problem is that nobody really knows.
If you look at the horses belly area. There are no ribs showing and there are no sunken in places on the back or sides. They look to be grazing in a darker area where the owner probably (I say, "Probably") put some hay. I don't see what but assume they get that too.
