Shoes on a Wire

Alot of kids (I guess I shouldn't say kids, because these are probably done by young adults in their early 20's. I assume mostly college students.)throw shoes on the electrical wires to see if they can get them up there. I am guessing that's why they'd do this. These shoes are in State College around the university area. I've seen several streets with shoes hanging on the lines. (State College is only about a 15-20 minute drive from Bellefonte). Anyone need a used pair of shoes? If you double click to enlarge you can view them closer. Some of them don't look that used.

I have seen pictures of this before, in fact one was a tree that folk travel miles to do this and it is full of shoes.

Now you know why some kids always seem to have a new pair of shoes.

Do you see my photo of my car going 65 mph?

I agree with Jim. It's actually quite dangerous. . .I used to do PR for the power company in Las Vegas, and they hated that.

Its a shame that people have to do this, as it can be very dangerous. We have seen trees that have all sorts of shoes on them which is kind of cool to see, i have passed a few and never have been able to get a shot of it.

Hi Barb,
Is it becoming Fashion or what? Don't think it's very clever...
The Information Centre looks nice and the fast photo while waiting for the green light seems to show a quite stormy sky...
Thanks for your comments at Blogtrotter, where I finished my Greek Islands 2006 adventure with a post on Cretan Towns! Since it's Easter time, also made a post with some lousy pictures on Easter in Prague (1997) at Revival 90s.
Enjoy your Easter Eggs and have a great long weekend!

So, if I understood, they do that just for fun?
Well, it could be worse!

Wow, they really went all out with that!

I do prefer "like a bird on a wire" !

Amazing what strange activities can become fads. Seeing how many people we could pack into a VW Beetle was much more rational.

I'm late in commenting, but in an urban setting, shoes on a wire usually means DRUGS for sale. That's why they're not children shoes. Children usually don't sell drugs.
