The Hunter and The Rabbit

I went to another dog show. This one was put on by Centre County Paws to raise money to help feed and house these animals while they wait an adoption. This dog is dressed up like a hunter and the boy that has him has bunny ears on. This dog didn't win the dress up contest. I will post later the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

I think I have gotten most of my dogs from an animal shelter or human society. Tucker was a dog that I had adopted from the human society. When I got him he was about a year old. I had adopted a dog before Tucker from another human society who was 2 years old. He had died of old age and that's when I got Tucker. I just feel these animals need homes, and I like to get one they may not otherwise be adopted.

I like this photo and that Beagle (it is a beagle I hope) reminded me of our Ginger who was a fence climber. She could climb any fence and did.

Nice post. And the photo is special to me.

I just began a new site about Japan in the early 1950s when we were there. You can get to it from my Brookville daily photo blog. Times have changed a lot there too over the 50-plus years since we were there.

You are so right about adopting dogs from a shelter. There are so many animals who need homes out there! This one looks very sweet!

Just resently I needed to rehome my Border Collie, I did this through the R.S.P.C.A. (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.) here in the UK. They visited the homes of anyone interested and arranged meetings. No charge was asked for but a donation was given. We were so glad he went to a caring home and one we are sure he will be well loved at.

Looks like a gun or fake gun on his side. Kind of spoof, maybe

You did good. If I ever get a dog, I would definitely adopt one from the shelter.

I think adopting from shelters is the way to do it. Our two cats were headed to a shelter when I got them, and we had a third cat who was already in one and was close to being put down because he had been there for a long time.

Abe, I used to have a Beagle too. Very nice dogs.

Tom, Glad you found a good home for your dog. I remember not long ago when you were doing that. It's sad to give away something you love.

Steve, Yes, there is a fake gun on the side of the dog and the licence is on his back.

I love to hear about people who rescue these animals. Alot of shelters put them down after they've had them for so long.

Cute Beagle!

Not all beagles hunt, we have one who is happy to lie in his doghouse while the rabbits hop just outside his door :) as far as I know he never even tried to chase one!

This looks like it was a fun event!

love the idea that you are taking on rescue dogs. not enough people do in my opinion.

almost all of my pets are rescues - my bunnies, my cats and my cage birds. also had a couple of rescue dogs in tha past too.

hope the fancy dress competition raised lots of money for a very worthy cause.
