Amish Man Working in the Fields

This Amish man was busy working in the field. If you drive through Amish country you will see alot of Amish working either out in the garden or in the fields.

To see other photos of the Amish I have posted; go to my June 17th archives.

http://discoverpa.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html Then just scroll down to June 17th.

Wonderful photo. I must say that I'd love to live as they do. I spent a day at a Mennonite community in Canada a few years ago and I liked it there.

That's the way everyone did their farming when I was younger. I like to see things like this because it brings back memories of my youth.

Have you seen my early 1950s photos that I and others took in Japan while we were soldiers stationed there?

I like the way they do things but I like new things also.

Beautiful scene, but it looks to me like his critters are doing most of the work.

He's got that wagon loaded up doesn't he?

Jam, yes he does have that wagon to the max.

Linda, This is going past Rebersburg.

Great shot. I hope to take some photos of the Amish next month when we visit PA. Looks very picturesque...

Great photo.
Seen some doc. on National Geographic Channel about the Amish and got quite an idea of the way they live. Some aspects seem interesting. But not all of them.
And still remember that Peter Weir movie with Harrison Ford (I guess) called "The Witness"

I remember that film too Quint, as I have little knowledge of the Amish I will not comment on their ways but say that the photograph is very nice, it shows a way of life that is long gone, and though the wagon is loaded so it seems a fair load for a pair of work horse to pull.

I usually take visitors from abroad up to Lancaster county, to do some buggy watching and eat shoofly pie!
