Water Level

While at Poe Valley State Park I noticed the water level really low with this gage. It is below the lake somewhat, but they must use this gage to watch it somewhat. The picture below is where they have the gage by the wall. It finally rained yesterday some.

If you'd like stop by my other blog here: http://lv2scpbk.blogspot.com to see the stormy clouds for Wordless Wednesday.

The only water around here since March is what we carried or used the garden hose to deliver. It was a miserable summer for wildlife, and plants, and insects and even us people. I lost my front yard and had to replant it and that took a lot of water to keep it growing. Now, however, today, we are promised some rain. Nobody is taking an umbrella with them to work as the weatherman has cried "fire" too many times and been wrong. Nobody gets up and even looks out.

Your water level pictures is a sad commentary on the issue of Global Warming. Sad that President Bush doesn't think it is real.

The trees that are already turning, there in the second shot, caught my eye. Beautiful.

Your photo of the water level gage does a good job conveying how dry it is ... We are experiencing a drought here as well. However, in South Carolina a drought means significant less rainfall than normal. While in Texas, where I grew up as a kid, a drought means no rain or almost no rain.

This is very much like the pictures of Teddington Lock in Richmond Daily Photo (UK).

Thanks for your recent comments at South Shields Daily Photo

That second picture seems to show a run off from the lake above, the marker would show the flow from the lake and then maybe another run off could be opened. What it shows now is the lake above is well below the level intended. I hope your rain comes soon.
