Here's our waitress when we go on our vacation, serving burgers and shakes. Just kidding except for the vacation part. Does anyone remember a waitress bringing their food out to the car back in the 50's? I don't, but my mom and dad tell me they do. This was at the Bellefonte Cruise.
I will be posting back here on Wednesday. See you then.
Welcome to my blog where I try to post a photo taken somewhere in or around Bellefonte, PA each day or close to it. I also post various meme's here such as (ABC Wed., Skywatch Fri., Photo Meme's, Camera Critters, Weekend Mailbox) that I participate in each week, which are also focused in or around my town.

Are you having a relaxing little holiday? Enjoy , if you are! Well, enjoy anyway! Back in the 50s in OZ, we didn't have that sort of hamburger/shakes type cafe...drive-in cinemas used to sell hamburgers and it was a big deal wa-ay back then, before the McDonalds-iation of the world.
I think I need such a waitress for my garden to put down the drinks on her hand ;-))
Enjoy your vacation! I posted yesterday (20 th June) something which could interest you...
That's a great shot! At first I thought she was real. I like the motion of the cars and the people going by too. I've never seen the Bellefonte cruise. (I don't remember if they had it when I lived there?) Enjoy your time away!
Great shot. If she was your waitress, you might have to wait until 2050 for your order to get to you. Have a fun vacation.
Interesting mannequin to have out on the street. :)
Great photo! She reminds me of Barbie!
We went to a fast food on vacation once where they did bring the food out to your car--I think the place had a "root beer" name, but I can't remember!
j'aime beaucoup, cela rappelle le film "american grafiffi"
I like much, that points out film “american grafiffi”
barbie!
XD
Nice shot ... mannequins are interesting and ever so slightly creepy. :)
Oh yes! I remember car-hops clearly!
At The Varsity here in Atlanta they still exist. Nipsy Russell was a Varsity hop :)
Enjoyed your blog!
"Best Image" number 2, Barb.
I love it. It reminds me of "the Stepford Wives" ;) "She's an alien robot"!
It's as if she's come to life! I love the older people in the background, the man looking at it with his wife laughing at him. I also like the arm of the driver in the car coming into frame.
Great composition and moment you captured here. Good job.
Not on the 50's, but I do remember having that in the 70's. :)
Great pic, my mom and dad used to tell me about them when they were dating.
Looking back is fun!
Yes, we still had car hops in the 60s when I was in high school. When I saw this photo in the portal she looked like Paris Hilton. And I think the real Paris Hilton is about as pretty as a plastic, fake mannequin.
I think the Sonic here still does, I will need to check! Starting to feel like I could use a hamburger....Need to find a Slimfast, quick.
have a nice vacation & this is another wonderfully captured shot!
Car hops on skates still happens today. A little less often and very much done as a pull on our collective memory of days gone by.
This one startled me when it first loaded on the screen. It takes a split second to realize she's not real.
I guess you don't have Sonic up there? One of my favorite places for hamburgers, chili-dogs, and great onion rings. They bring the food to your car, and the talented ones still bring your order wearing roller skates.
Come on, what are you trying to pull here! She's plastic...everything's plastic! lol.
We still have a drive-in franchise here in BC. Its called White Spot. They also have very nice indoor dining.
woooh..amazing
