Brockerhoff House

The Brockerhoff house sits on Allegheny St. You can read more about it here: http://bellefonte.topcities.com/business/hotels/page2.html But, before it was the Brockerhoff house it was once named the Bush House. Read more about that here: http://www.bellefonte.com/heritage/bushhousefacts.html Read about one of the famous people who stayed at the Bush house. The Bush house was built in 1868. Can you guess who stayed here? Hint: We were one of the first towns to get electricity.

Barb - thanks for visiting my blog. Nice to see someone from Bellefonte, a lovely town. I've been there a few times since my sister and her husband both work for PSU. I remember a really good restaurant in an old Victorian style house but I can't recall the name. Is that still there?

The architecture is amazing. I love the star in one of the gables (?). Was it Edison who stayed there? :)

Hi Barb, thanks for coming by Villigen Switzerland the other day. On your website, I can't read the text in the top-most post because your scrolling photo thing to the left is formatted strangely on my browser (Firefox) and obscures it.

Thanks for the linkage. I will add yours soon.

You have a very interesting blog here with great shots of Belefonte’s amazing architecture. My wife is a scrapbook fanatic too, I click ‘em and she sticks ‘em :)

Strangetates, Wow, nice to see you know the area. I'm not sure about the restaurant. Are you talking about Bellefonte or Lemont? There's a nice fancy victorian in Lemont that sits on the main road. It has windows in the front where you can sit and see out. Is this the one or are you talking about Bellefonte? I will have to think a little. When were you here last?

Lessie, yes you are right. It was Edison.

Z, let me know if it keeps doing this. I may have to delete it then. No one else has had a problem yet with it that I know of. If anyone else has a problem with my scroll photo on the left hand side, please let me know.

Salty Dawg, Thanks in advance for adding me to your link. That's funny about your click'em and she sticks'em. I love doing scrapbooking. It seems to be here to stay, maybe like fishing.

Nice big historical house and very interesting history about it. We have visited many places in the west, but unfortunately, we never had the opportunity to go to Pennylvania. That gives us another good reason to come and visit your city.

Ah, you gave us a good hint about Edison. Even with the hint, I had to read your linked info. I'm a little slow sometimes.

Wow, what a great set of photos and great looking buildings. Florida has its charms, but I love detailed older buildings like that. Nice shots of them.

Barb - I think you are right about the restaurant. I get to State College every year or two but it's been some time since I was up your way.

A building I remember well in Bellefonte is the courthouse. My father lived in New Jersey but after a bad stroke, he spent the last year of his life in a nursing home in State College. I had to go to your town to be sworn in as executor. That's a structure worth some pix.

Another neat building. This one really looks European to me.

Thanks for your visits Barb.
