Sky Watch Friday - Bellefonte Courthouse
Night-time sky at the Bellefonte Court house. I took this just as it was getting dark. If you enlarge the photo you can see the fish weather vane on the top of the courthouse. I wonder how many people never notice the fish. I didn't notice until my son pointed it out to me several years ago.
Added Note: A few of you wondered why the fish was chosen on the courthouse. I did some Internet research and this site tells about a man who delivered airmail and chose the fish for the weather vane. Here's the site: About fish weather vane. Our state fish symbol is the brook trout. PA is known for good fishing.

Lovely capture, beautiful clear skies! Great looking courthouse, too, and I love the weather vane!! Hope you have a great weekend, Barb!

Great skies; when my husband and I were there a couple of years ago; we didn't notice the fish weather vain; thanks for pointing that out!
What a beautiful courthouse with vane.
I love the yellow color of the court house and of course, the fish on top!
Very distinguished courthouse. I suppose that the statue is of somebody famous.
I enjoy interesting architecture- and a fish to boot! Thanks!
Yes, the statue is of Gov. Curtin.
Why on earth would they have a fish on a weather vane? And at half-mast, too!
creative ... interesting lighting idea -- thx for sharing

Thank you for following this up, Barb. That story about the glory days of flight via Bellefonte was lovely to read with all its personal recollections from the old folks. I love the fact that one of them still treasures a cushion from one of the wrecks. However, this bit is sad "Bellefonte’s original airfield is now hidden by the regional high school and a highway department building; across the street stand a Burger King and a mini-mall". But I guess that is the way of the world.
Your photo makes me think of a warm, soft summer night. It's beautiful.
