Welcome to my blog where I try to post a photo taken somewhere in or around Bellefonte, PA each day or close to it. I also post various meme's here such as (ABC Wed., Skywatch Fri., Photo Meme's, Camera Critters, Weekend Mailbox) that I participate in each week, which are also focused in or around my town.

Starlite Drive-In Theater
The Starlite Theater is located on Benner Pike only about 10 minutes from Bellefonte. You can see the big screen in the background of the entrance. They were going to close it down but must have decided to keep it open awhile longer. I've gone several times to this one but not this year yet. Right now "Ratatouille" is playing and another movie which I forget. They used to have those big bulky speakers you put on the inside of your car window. Now, if you go, you tune your radio station in to whatever channel they tell you to hear the sound. I remember sometimes going with my kids and taking a lawn chair, blankets and a snack and we'd sit outside beside the car. Do you have memories of the drive-in theater? Do you have any in your town?

I haven't been to one of these in years! I've been told that there is a drive-in theatre in one of the suburbs. Memories? Of course, and many are very funny--lots of attempts to sneak friend into the lot; all very stupid of course in retrospect.
Oh yes, your post today and your questins about memories of drive in theaters...
I used to walk through the fields where I lived to come out on a country road where the drive in was. When I got there I sold popcorn from car to car. I don't remember how much money I made but I saw some sights.
I was even paid, by some youg men (older than I was at the time) to skip their car from now on. And I took their money and didn't stop again.

les drive-in, cela fait penser à l'amerique des années 1960. " American Graffiti" de lucas, "happy days". Malheureusement il n'y en a pas vraiment en France.
drives-in, that done to think of America of the years 1960. “American Graffiti” of lucas, “happy days”. Unfortunately there is not really in France.
I love that drive-in!! The very first movie I ever saw in my life was there at the Starlite. My sister and I wore our pajamas and I think we were asleep by the end. That brings back good memories and I'm glad they are keeping it open. Thanks for this photo!
We dont have anything like this in the UK but I would love to go to one! They look really cool :o)
No, drive-in theaters don't exist in France...I wonder what is "Ratatouille" about???Vegetable stories?
Alice, "Ratatouille" is a cartoon movie for kids. We haven't seen it yet but want to go this weekend. Although, we'll be going to the movie not drive-in. I think it has to do with a rat who doesn't like to eat rat food, he likes to eat good food and has something to do with a chef.
Hey...it looks as if you've got grey skies and too much rain, too! How comforting! No drive in story.....but those "kids' memories" are great, aren't they.
I think there is one o n the Olympic Peninsula...rains too much here. I have fond memories of drive in growing up in Oklahoma. A bunch of us would cram in to one car. I guess that happens when you are a kid.,
Ohh I haven't been to a drive in theater for years. Actually we used to have a Starlight theater too. I remember we would pull in to a slot and check the speaker. Sometimes it wouldn't work so we would change spots until we found one that worked.
Thanks for the memories :)
All the drive-ins closed years ago in the area. But I do remember watching Star Wars at the drive-in when it first came out in 1977. Everybody was looking up at the sky when the film finished.
No memories for drive in theaters, I'm afraid we don't have them here in malta.
Lovely Wife and I always loved drive in movies. We haven't had one near where we have lived in many years now. I miss them.
I'd love to go to one again.
Glad you're all excited about this photo, but this drive-in has closed.
