Here's a view of the Rockview prison. This prison is one that has executions. When there is one, you'll see a bunch of people standing outside the front with candles until the prisoner is pronounced dead. I don't think they carry out the death penalty very often. To see a front view of the prison and to learn more, go here: http://www.cor.state.pa.us/rockview/site/default.asp
Do you know the death penalty in your state? Well, to learn more about the facts in your own state (all are listed), go here: http://www.prodeathpenalty.com/UnitedStates.htm
Welcome to my blog where I try to post a photo taken somewhere in or around Bellefonte, PA each day or close to it. I also post various meme's here such as (ABC Wed., Skywatch Fri., Photo Meme's, Camera Critters, Weekend Mailbox) that I participate in each week, which are also focused in or around my town.

Barb,
I'm glad you enjoyed my latest image ;)
...this prison looks and sounds like a very scary place!
...I see you're a "night owl" like me ;)
thats a scary prison death penaltyyyyy....good thing philippines have abolished death penalty already.
The view of the place is very nice, but death penalty indeed is a very scary thing...Well captured shot!
Good shot and a difficult subject.
Prisons are a temporary solution to a much bigger problem, really. We have not figured out how to fix the big problems so the prison system exists. The death penalty is not as bad as wars, and we seem to honor the wars, and victory necessarily means killing people. Wars are a problem that societies have no fix for either. We are, as a society, a long way from playing the role of god but we are always playing it and someone or something suffers and dies.
de loin, vue comme cela, on dirait une residence, un petit manoir, mais un petit manoir que j'aimerais pas visiter ;o)
by far (seen as that) a residence would be said. A small manor, but a small manor which I would not like to visit ;O)
You've gotten a very nice shot of a scary place. (I like the corn fields in the front of the photo.)
That was my church that you showed yesterday! You got beautiful photos of it!!
Oh...your photo reminds me that I don't know where is the Prison in Cologne? :o(
I know I don't want to visit the prisons here.....nice shot of a place we unfortunately need.
Nice shot of a necessary but sometimes harsh institution.
As for the death penalty, I am grateful that Canada has abolished this practice. Although I understand on a personal level, the need for retribution, I'm not so sure as a society or state we should sanction murder. I would rather have some criminals/guilty party escape justice then to punish innocents for wrongly convicted crimes. There have been too many cases where innocent individuals have been released after 10-20 years in prison for murders that they have not committed. If they had faced the death penalty immediately, then the state would have killed an innocent party.
Great photo! Doesn't really look like prison. I look forward to your succeeding photos.

It seems strange to say this is a good photo when the subject is a place that holds so much pain and sadness.
But, never-the-less, this is a good photo.
Nice setting - wouldn't want to live there!!!
We don't have the death penalty in PNG or in Ausdtralia where I come from - thank goodness!
Strange, but the place in the photo looks like such a nice place. We have a sort of death penalty here but it isn't enforced; no one has been executed in New York in 44 years.
Yikes, I didn't even know Rockview had executions.
When we passed by the other day, on our way to Bellefonte, I said to my husband that the prisoners sure has a wonderful view. Mountain range on both side, it's sitting in a valley.
Ironically, Happy Valley.
I am glad that the death penalty has been abolished in France. Although sometimes terrible crimes are committed against kids and I tell myself the criminals need to die.
Nice picture. You'll have to get a shot of the other side, which my wife and I call gopher road. Have you ever noticed how many of those buggers are there on the way to Pleasant Gap. Nice idea for a blog, too!
Death Penalty is a shame unworthy of a civilized country
It's interesting to see this. I've only seen American prisons in movies.
We don't have the death penalty in Norway and I'm thankful for that.
