I'm pretty sure this is a stink bug but I don't know the proper name for it. It was on our porch yesterday. If you enlarge it you can get a really good view.

There are some funny critters on this earth! So, does this stink bug stink all the time or only when attacked?

Mara, They just stink when they feel threatened. I had a delightful experience when I was a kid with one of these and believe me, they really do stink.
Lookws like a atink bug to me. We see them here on our deck too. They are very weird looking closeup.
Sure looks like a stink bug to me! Glad I can't smell him ;-)
I think that's called a wheel bug. Definitely not a stink bug.
