Charlotte's Web

They dressed up cows too and this one was called "Charlotte's Web". I'm assuming this was suppose to be the spider on this cow's back, but not positive. They had another cow which I didn't get a photo of with a cape on to resemble Harry Potter's cape. I think this cow called "Charlotte's Web" won either first or second place. My grandson loved this show.

Baseball Anyone?

Here's a goat dressed up as a baseball player. There is a baseball bat tied around his neck if you can see it and he's wearing little shoes.

Dalmatian

They have an animal dress up contest at the Grange Fair and this is a dalmatian. No, not really, it's a goat dressed up like a dalmatian. The young girl put black spots all over him and she was dressed alike. I thought this was cute. I have several more animal dress up photo's to post too.

Apples

Lots of goodies at the fair and carmel apples are one of my favorites. What kind of apple coating do you like best? The red candy stuff, chocolate, carmel, with or without nuts or candies like m&m's?

Going Around in Circles

I got this shot of four rides going around in circles at the Grange Fair.

The Grange Fair

The Grange Fair for Centre County is a family tradition of camping and fair-goers. Some of these families have renting these spots for alot of years and then hand down the spot to their children. Most people who rent these spaces for the fair, put up camp and take everything from TV's, couches, chairs, beds, a fridge and anything you can think of from home to make their life easier while spending their time at the fair. Some schools will not start until fair week is over since this is a big thing for alot of families around our area. The Grange Fair is only about 15 minutes from Bellefonte and is located in Centre Hall.

Anchor on the Brockerhoff House

Here's another little discovery for me in my town. I took a photo of the Brockerhoff House on an earlier post here: http://discoverpa.blogspot.com/2007/04/brockerhoff-house.html I never noticed that on the top of the building on the roof, it looks like theirs an anchor drawn on it.

Churning Yarn

I believe this lady is making a scarf the old fashioned way. This was a photo I took a few weeks ago at the People's Choice Arts Fest and didn't post it then.

Duck Shadow

I hope you can stand one more duck photo. I liked how the shadow was in the water with this duck.

Barn

My grandson (age 4) calls this the blown up barn when we play the "what do you see game" in the car when we go somewhere. We have to time it just right so he gets to see it. He likes pointing it out. But sadly, in reality this barn had caught on fire. I'm not sure how long along, I believe several years ago. It sits out in a field along the by-pass.

Dump Trucks

I took these by Pleasant Gap, which is only about 10 minutes from Bellefonte. All week long you see these trucks are gone from morning to evening, but when they return they are always lined up like this.

Scarecrow

This was over in the same area in Boalsburg as the tin man. I think this scarecrow is a little scary. So, I guess he's doing his job.

The Tin Man

I seen this near Boalsburg. Reminds me of the tin man on "The Wizard of Oz".

Wall of Joe Paterno

Wall dedicated to Joe Pa from 1966 to 2006 with the scores of the games. A coach for 40 years. The statue I posted yesterday is to the left when facing the statue.

Joe Paterno Statue

This statue is by the Bryce Jordon Center almost right across from the Visitors Center. Joe Paterno is also known as "JoePa", one of his nicknames. He's been coaching along time, since 1966, and tomorrow I will show you the wall that is beside this statue made up of each year with the scores on them. Chicken Signs

These signs were along a Boalsburg road. I guess they wanted to send a message for all to see, so their chickens are safe. Maybe those chickens got a little to close to the road too many times. (Just click on the photo to enlarge if you need to). The first sign is a little hard to read and says; "Slow Down".

Stay The Course at The Dog Show

Here's a dog doing the course at the dog show. And, This one weaving in and out. This is the last two photos of the dog show. Tomorrow will bring something new.

Poodle Trained to Sniff Out Smells

Here at the dog show they showed us this dog trained to sniff out his owners smell. They put about five objects down with one with the owners smell, the dog got the right one.

Getting to Know Each Other

Rescue Dog

This guy gave everyone a demonstration of how rescue dogs work. This dog will go out to find someone, and when he finds the person he will come back and either jump on the owner, or pull on his clothing to tell him he has found them. I think rescue dogs are great. He told us it took about two years to train this dog.

Since we are outdoors in this photo, and since everyone loves to take photos, this maybe something you are interested in. Although, this has nothing to do with my photo today that I posted, I just wanted to share.

Papillon at Dog Show

I found this dog so adorable at the dog show. I may have to look into this breed when I want to get another dog. The owner told me this one is a Papillon.

Black Dog Watching the Dog Show

They had a dog show on Saturday for agility, best costumes, best trick and some demonstrations for rescue and talking about training. I only went for a little over an hour. I love dog shows. Everyone was allowed to take their dogs if they wanted to. This little cute dog was in front of me and I took the photo of him or her watching the dog show.

I didn't take mine because he barks at everything, so I just decided not to. I could have taken him to demonstrate a trick. My dog does know how to bin himself. If, he pees on the floor, we will tell him to go bin himself. Most of the time he does this upstairs. Then, he'll go downstairs and get in his bin. He only punishes himself for about a minute, then gets out. If only he could close the door. LOL. We still find this amazing. Does your dog have any special trick?

Train Tracks

I took this photo of my grandson in Bellefonte walking along the railroad tracks. This train ususally don't run much, except sometimes on Sunday to take people on a quick ride, or maybe to have a dinner at another stop and then come right back.

Are You Game?

A game at Delgrosso's Park. So many Sponge Bob's, so little time. Simple, spray the water in the hole, if your the first one at the top, you win! No, we didn't win. My grandson loves Sponge Bob (age 4). What cartoons do your children or grandchildren watch? Or, do you remember what cartoon you watched as a child? I remember the "Flintstones" and "The Road Runner". I remember my children loved "Inspector Gadget" and "The Get-a-long Gang".

Clown Attack!

Warning! Not suitable for some children. If your child doesn't like clowns, I'd advice you not to show them this photo. LOL.

Keep Your Hands In!

The rules are to keep your hands in the boat, but they seem to be saying; What? You mean we're suppose to keep our hands in the boat? Little kids love water. This was another photo I took at Delgrosso's Amusement Park.

Motorcycle Tombstone

I wanted to show you this unique tombstone. You don't see some like this very often. This person's passion must have been motorcycles. I had seen a tombstone once that was a cell phone, but I can't remember where.

Book Mobile

Here's the book mobile. This vehicle goes around and stops different locations so kids or adults who have a hard time getting around can go in and check out books. They are sitting in front of the Historical Society in Bellefonte and the library is just across the street. I assume they are stopping back to refuel books. Anyway, I forgot they do this until I noticed them sitting there and was wondering, do you have something like this is your area?

Breakfast Theme Day - August

I almost forgot and posted my photo of the court house below, so now am posting my breakfast. Mine is usually the same every morning except once in awhile. I usually have yogurt, coffee and the newspaper.

Fish On Top of Court House

Remember I had said before since I've been taking photos, I've been noticing alot more. Well, here's another example of that. My son asked me if I ever noticed the fish on top of the court house. Well, I didn't, so I set out to see it and here it is. Again, I've lived here along time and have never noticed this little detail. It pays to take photos.
